We produce market leading lighting control hardware and software solutions and develop lighting networking hardware for permanent and temporary applications.

UK Technical Sales Specialist

We’re looking for a Technical Sales Specialist to join our team representing ChamSys. If you have technical expertise in lighting control systems and a friendly, customer-focused attitude, we want to hear from you. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic team and engage with customers, promoting the technical virtues, software USPs and system advantages of our ChamSys products. As a UK Technical Sales Specialist, you will be a key point of contact for customers, helping them understand and maximize the capabilities of ChamSys products. While prior sales experience is not required, your ability to build strong relationships, communicate clearly, and where required offer in depth, personable technical support will be crucial in driving customer satisfaction and product adoption.

Primary Responsibilities and Job Requirements (other duties and projects may be assigned):

  • Customer Engagement:
    • Act as a friendly, approachable point of contact for customers and Business Development Managers, conveying technical capabilities and product information. Help customers & colleagues understand how to get the most out of ChamSys products, particularly MagicQ and QuickQ software, and assist with troubleshooting and product recommendations.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Provide in-depth guidance on the use of ChamSys lighting control products, including their setup, programming, and operation, to ensure customers can use the systems to their full potential.
  • Event Participation:
    • Travel across the UK (and occasionally the EU) to support events such as tradeshows, roadshows, dealer events, and other promotional activities. Engage with customers at these events to showcase ChamSys products and answer technical questions.
  • Product Demonstrations:
    • Deliver product demonstrations independently or alongside our Business Development Managers at events and customer sites, showcasing ChamSys products’ capabilities and features.
  • Customer Feedback:
    • Collect feedback from customers and market participants to understand their needs, monitor competitor products, and relay insights to the team to help shape product development and customer-facing initiatives.
  • Product Promotion:
    • Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing teams to help promote ChamSys products through effective demonstrations, technical discussions, and customer interaction.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Entertainment Lighting Expertise:
    • Experience in the entertainment lighting sector, with an understanding of lighting control systems used in live events, touring, theatre, broadcast, house of worship, and corporate settings.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Hands-on experience with lighting control consoles, ideally ChamSys MagicQ and QuickQ, and a solid understanding of entertainment lighting systems.
  • Fast Learner:
    • While a comprehensive knowledge of ChamSys systems is not required of an applicant we will be looking for someone who is technically adept enough to learn them quickly and confident enough to hit the ground running.
  • Friendly & Customer-Focused:
    • A positive, approachable attitude with a passion for helping customers and colleagues. You should be comfortable talking to customers, answering questions, and providing clear, technical advice.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a simple and understandable way. Comfortable delivering presentations and product demos.
  • Problem-Solving & Support:
    • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a clear and concise manner, ensuring customers are satisfied with their solutions.
  • Organisational Skills:
    • Ability to manage your time effectively, work independently, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Driving License:
    • A valid UK driving license is required due to the need for frequent travel.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • ChamSys Product Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with ChamSys products, particularly MagicQ and QuickQ software, and experience with their application in real-world lighting scenarios.
  • Event Participation:
    • Previous experience attending or participating in industry events, tradeshows, or roadshows is a plus, but not essential.

Software Engineer (Mobile Apps Development)

We are seeking a Mobile Software Engineer to join our ambitious and growing team and help us build software for a range of mobile platforms including iOS and Android. We have a small but growing R&D team based in Southampton and our engineers are involved in the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Build and maintain our current range of mobile apps on iOS and Android. 
  • Develop new iOS and Android applications for our product range. 
  • Share knowledge and learning with other members of the software team. 

Essential Skills: 

  • At least 2 years professional experience in mobile app development. 
  • Excellent communication, technical & problem-solving skills. 
  • Knowledge of iOS and Android development. 
  • Experience in cross-platform development using C++ and QML in Qt. 
  • Experience of Apple and Android app store deployment. 

Desirable Experience: 

  • Using tools such as Git and GitLab. 
  • Developed apps which are live on the app store. 
  • JavaScript/HTML5 development experience. 
  • Developing on Linux, macOS, Windows. 
  • Agile/Scrum development process experience. 
  • Working with stage lighting and lighting control products.

Software Engineer

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our ambitious and growing team and help us build software for a range of hardware platforms. We have a small but growing R&D team based in Southampton and our engineers are involved in the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Design, develop and support solutions for our bespoke products. 
  • Design and develop our applications user interface. 
  • Create high and low-level software design using recognised methodologies. 
  • Ensure software can be built on our continuous build system. 
  • Produce documentation including requirements, change notes and user manuals. 
  • Prepare and implement suitable test strategies. 
  • Assist the support team with troubleshooting technical issues, developing and implementing corrective actions as needed. 
  • Share knowledge and learning with other members of the software team. 

Essential Skills: 

  • At least 3 years professional experience in Software Engineering. 
  • Experience developing in C/C++. 
  • Excellent communication, technical & problem-solving skills. 

Desirable Experience: 

  • Knowledge or experience of developing in Qt. 
  • Experience of networking, USB and implementing communication protocols. 
  • Using source control and CI systems such as GitLab, Git or Atlassian tools. 
  • Agile/Scrum development process experience. 
  • Working with stage lighting and lighting control products.
